I've been told it would take a few months to get through greif, but that eventually I would start to smile again. I would start to laugh again. I would feel happy again. I think when you are in the throws of greif, it can be hard to see just how much it is affecting you. Over the past week or so, I've been feeling really good. I'm sure it has something to do with talking with my mom again and the move, but I also think it's because I am now four months out from the last time I saw A. Don't get me wrong, I totally miss her just as much today as I did the day I buckled her into my father's car on that cold Alabama highway, but life is going on no matter how much I drag my feet.
Shania is right, today is my day, nothing can stand in my way.
You got what it takes you can win,
Today is your day to begin.
Don't give up here, don't you quit.
The moment is now, this is it
Know that you can then you will
Get to the top of the hill
Part of the fun is the climb
You just gotta make up your mind
That today is your day
And nothing can stand in your way
Today is your day
Everything's goin' your way
Today (you can do it)
Today (c'mon c'mon)
Today (c'mon do it)
Today
When somebody throws sticks and stones
All they can break are your bones
And life's gonna kick you around
Then kick you again when you're down
But today is your day
And nothing can stand in your way
Today is your day
mmmm life's gonna kick you, its gonna kick you around, its gonna kick you down
Brush yourself off no regrets
This is as good as it gets
Don't expect more or less
Just go out and give it your best (give it your best)
Today is your day
And nothing can stand in your way
Today is your day
Everything's goin' your way
Today
Today ( I said today is your day)
Today
I'm in love with this song. I want to shout it from the rooftops.

Grief is a strange entity...it ebbs and flows and rises again.
If you are feeling good today, please enjoy the moments. You deserve to.
Take Care!

Such a great message in that song but one that it can be hard to live. It's important not to beat yourself up over it but that's something I personally find hard to do. I'm sorry you're grieving and hope you find some moments of happiness and smiles today.
Grief is such a long process. Enjoy the good days. Hoping for a time where the good days outnumber the bad days.

I really believe in the stages of grief...and they don't always go in order! The most important thing is to know your feelings and to handle them accordingly. I hope today is a good day :)
Hi,
I'm a visitor on my second ICLW, and I just wanted to say:
What an anthem for those of us who have been touched by grief...I relate to every word of what you have said here. It has a kind of ambushy quality, of which none of us are fans....
Hang on to this moment- may there be many more!
Best wishes,
Casey
Hi from ICLW! I actually heard this song on the radio this morning for the first time and they were talking about it. With everything Shania had just gone through- this was her "pep talk" to herself- she could do anything and nothing could stand in her way. It is definitely a good song/encouragement for anyone who is struggling with life at the moment! I hope you start to feel better soon!
