I have nursery duty again today. I'm looking forward to it. We also have a new members luncheon after our service that I'm looking forward to attend.
Friday, I went to lunch with my Pastor. The church office had sent me a final request for a bio blurb for the church newsletter about new members last week. I wrote back saying I was sorry it was late, but I had trouble writing it because of A leaving and such.
Not long after replying to the letter, I got a seperate email from my Pastor telling me she wanted to take me to lunch to discuss some things about A and how I was dealing with it.
We went to lunch and talked about how I was doing and general life goings on. While I was explaing to her about how and why I began my Low Amylose diet. I mentioned how Christina was able to get pregnant within a short period of time after starting it and my Pastor said "Oh, I think that would be amazing if you got pregnant! I know you and NYEBoy aren't married, and I don't really care about that, but you would be a wonderful mother." I smiled and laughed it off.
After I got back home I wrote her telling her thank you for taking me to lunch and for reaching out because I really miss that motherly connection. She wrote me back the following:
"I'll be your "stand in" mom any day! I'd be proud to have a daughter like you. I had a great time today -- keep me in the loop as things progress -- and yes, I'm praying that you get pregnant! :)"
How many Pastors do you know that would say such a thing to an unmarried woman, regardless of her infertility history or current marriage status? I'd like to think more than just her, but I just don't know.
Considering I haven't spoken to my mother in two months, it was nice to hear those words from a non-family member. In fact, I don't think I have ever heard my mom say those words to me once.
This is just another reason I love my Pastor and my church.
